Welcome back! We are excited that you want to work with ISM again in Palestine.
If you are new to ISM, please use the
general application form
. The form below is for returning volunteers only.
Name you went by when last on the ground (OTG)
(Required)
First name only
Name you'll go by with us
(Required)
If the same as before, please retype it. If you are choosing a new name for security or other reasons, keep in mind that people from all over the world will have to remember and pronounce this name. Please be thoughtful about not appropriating names from other targeted identity groups. For example, please do not adopt a specifically Arab or Muslim name if you are not from either identity group.
Email
(Required)
For your security, we recommend you use an encrypted email with an address that does not include or suggest your legal name.
Enter Email
Confirm Email
Email you used to communicate with ismtraining in the past, if different
If it’s the same address, leave blank.
Location
(Required)
Signal username
(Required)
Usernames (sometimes called handles) should end in dot+number. This is different from the name you appear as on Signal. If your time with ISM predated Signal and you don’t have Signal, please state that.
When and how long were you on the ground?
(Required)
Location(s) where you worked
(Required)
Names of your location coordinators and one or two others you were OTG with (if you were a coordinator, let us know that and also who the other coordinators were, as well as the international coordinators). Please also provide their Signal handles if you know them.
(Required)
Did you have a debrief from ISM? If so, do you remember the name of the volunteer who debriefed you?
(Required)
When do you plan to return?
(Required)
How long do you plan to stay?
(Required)
If you are part of a larger initiative or an organized group of volunteers planning to travel together, please indicate that here.
If not, please leave blank.
Are you part of any ISM working groups? If so, which ones?
If none, leave blank.
I understand that ISM's work depends on individuals' ability to adapt to the needs of the moment. I know that I might not be able to return to a specific location or visit the people I was close to in the past, except during time off.
(Required)
I understand.
I understand that I might not be stepping into the same roles I filled in the past.

ISM structure, ground rules, processes, training, work, and more are always evolving. Returning volunteers must reread the training manual to ensure they are up-to-date. If you previously completed all three parts of online training — or both parts if before November 2025 — you do not need to repeat them. You are, however, welcome and encouraged to do so, especially Training Part 1 and Part 2.
(Required)
I understand.
ISM's work is strictly nonviolent, Palestinian-led, consensus-based, and opposed to all forms of oppression, including based on race, ethnicity, class, place of origin, gender identity, sexuality, physical ability, physical appearance, age, and religion. Volunteers are expected to be anti-Zionist, anti-occupation, anti-apartheid, anti-fascist, and anti-sectarian.
(Required)
I understand.
There are times when an individual, even a returning volunteer, may not be a good match for ISM and may be asked to discontinue the application process or to leave the group on the ground at any time. Please wait to hear from the vetting/training team before finalizing travel plans.
(Required)
I understand.
The minimum time commitment to volunteer with ISM is 3 weeks including travel and training time, except during the olive harvest, when 2 weeks is acceptable. If this is a major obstacle for you, please let us know during the next step of the process and we can see if any accommodation is possible.
(Required)
I understand.
Volunteers are expected to cover their own flights and living expenses. When this form was last updated, that amount was 30 NIS/day for housing (first month only) and an estimated 10 NIS/day for food, and 80 NIS/month for phone service. Housing fees are waived after the first month. Fees can change over time and will be confirmed during training. Many volunteers fundraise to cover their trips.
