Protest in Beit Sira continues today

Residents of Beit Sira together with International and Israeli activists to continue to prevent destruction for the Annexation Wall. Thursday February 23nd beginning at 8:30

Yesterday, Wed the villagers succeeded in stopping the construction by refusing to leave a protest tent on the planned route of the wall which cuts through the villages main road. The Route of the wall in Beit Sira is designed to annex the Makabim settlement and more of Beit Sira’s land to Israel.

Ismael Mahmoud, a member of the popular committee against the wall, told ISM that the Israeli military previously uprooted more than 1500 of the village olive trees to build a barrier that will isolate more than 800 dunnms of land from the village

Biet Sira Take action Against the Wall

Beit Sira raise protest tent on the path of the wallWednesday Februaury 22nd at 8:30 in the morning the villagers of Beit Sira will attempt to stop the destruction of the land for the construction of the annexatoin barrier.

Today at 12:00am the people of the West Bank village of Beit Sira raised a protest tent on the main road that connect their village with the latroon area and prevented bulldozers from demolishing the main road of the village.

Ismael Mahmoud, a member of the popular committee against the wall, told ISM that the Israeli military previously uprooted more than 1500 of the village olive trees to build a barrier that will isolate more than 800 dunnms of land from the village. Today the military are uprooting more trees and have destroyed the village road.

The Israeli soldiers declared the area a closed military zone and brought more support in attempt to evacuate the protesters and arrest some of the residents. This after noon at 17:30, the Israeli military was shooting teargas and stun grenades at some youth throwing stones.

Jordan Valley Farmers March For Their Lives

Jordan Valley Farmers will march to the Bradala checkpoint to protest their lands annexation to Israel. Farmers in the Jordan valley have been Isolated from the rest of the west bank and at the same time prevented from selling their produce to Israel.

“Israel is leaving no way for these farmers to live” Says Ahmed Sawaft Director of PARC (Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees) in Tubas: “This closure is causing an agricultural and economic disaster for the area.”

The Israeli military has defacto annexed the Jordan valley to Israel by denying access to the Jordan valley to any Palestinian but registered residents for the last seven months and has prevented the Palestinian farmers from transferring their produce through the Bardala checkpoint for four months.

Israel’s acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmart has announced that in his parties vision of “the final borders of Israel” The Jordan valley will remain within Israel’s borders.
